All cars have gone up in price, a lot. Manufacturers now must recoup some of the $billions they squandered chasing government mandated/subsidized EVs. Owners coming off EV leases are shocked at what leasing comparable replacement vehicles now cost.
Lost in all the hype over reduced EV fuel and maintenance costs is the reality that the largest single cost of new auto ownership is depreciation....by far. Depreciation directly feeds into lease or finance costs.
"All of us paid for it." -- especially those of us who are former employees of the auto industry who lost our jobs in that time period as the industry attempted to assemble capital by cutting costs. Consequences to some of us included not just income lost but also retirement funds fully depleted and debt accumulated, as many of us had to use those sources of funding to sustain ourselves during a long period of unemployment. Those who have borne the consequences of such market distortion do truly appreciate the imposition of negative consequences on us while you have borne none of them.
